9 Red Sun is known for their soaring melodies, catchy hooks, clever lyrics, and energetic live show. Their music is a blend of pop, rock, new wave, and lilting harmonies. Think Blondie with Foo Fighters’ guitars and The Beatles’ harmonies. Lead singer Natalia Bortolotti is a combination of Chrissie Hynde’s attitude, Debbie Harry’s style, Sarah McLachlan’s emotive range, and Alanis Morrissette’s intensity.
9 Red Sun was formed in early 2004, by Natalia and guitarist, Steve Sicular. They shared a profound musical chemistry, which lead to prolific songwriting.
Songwriting is a major focus of 9 Red Sun, earning them awards from VH1 Song of the Year, John Lennon Song Contest and Billboard Song Contest, among many others. Their songs have also been featured in film and television, including One Tree Hill, Smallville, and The OC.
Quickly creating a buzz, 9 Red Sun continues to impress both critics and fans, and is rapidly developing an extensive and loyal following, garnering major awards and accomplishments along the way.
Natalia Bortolotti
Natalia Bortolotti has garnered awards and accolades from such industry giants as VH1, Billboard, California Music Awards, John Lennon Song Contest, USA Song Contest, West Coast Songwriters, and the Lilith Fair Talent Search.
Touring for nearly a decade, she has shared the stage with Barenaked Ladies, Dishwalla, Luscious Jackson, Matchbox Twenty, Sheryl Crow, Train and Third Eye Blind.
Her songs have been licensed for film and television, and have been featured in Boston Public, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Charmed, Cold Case, Dawson’s Creek, Fox Sports, Joan of Arcadia, MTV’s Real World, One Tree Hill, Party of Five and Smallville.
In addition to 9 Red Sun, she works with a team of award-winning songwriters in Songfellowz, which specializes in music for film and television. She also teaches Voice and Songwriting at Blue Bear School of Music.
Steve Sicular
Steve Sicular brings a wealth of talent and experience to 9 Red Sun, having spent nearly a decade in the LA music scene, writing, recording, and performing.
He’s played the top Hollywood clubs, including the Roxy, and has toured extensively, sharing the stage with the Pretenders and Billy Idol. No stranger to the studio, he’s recorded in the same studios as the Eagles, Beach Boys, Motley Crue, and a host of others.
